Opportunity to Develop Your Networking
and Leadership Skills: MidAtlantic Conference 2008

A decision has recently been reached to hold a two day CREW MidAtlantic Regional Conference in the Washington metropolitan area in spring, 2008.  Likely locations around the area are being scouted now, and calendars are being consulted to find the right date.  Several chapters have agreed to support and participate in the event:  Suburban Maryland, DC, Northern Virginia, Richmond , and Hampton Roads.  Other chapters may join us as well (like Baltimore , Philadelphia, and Triangle CREW).

The purpose of this regional conference is to provide a more locally accessible CREW conference that will:

  • provide expanded networking opportunities
  • promote greater visibility for all CREW chapters
  • provide a significant venue for members to contribute to and collaborate through CREW

The 2008 Regional Conference Co-Chairs are:

  • Louise Zimmerman-White is the Past President (for 2006) of CREW Northern Virginia
  • Cami Hahn is the President-Elect (for 2008) of CREW Hampton Roads 

There are immediate opportunities for you to help in the planning and execution of this event.  One of the most important ways CREW provides value to members is by sharing these opportunities to develop your networking and leadership skills by participating in the business of CREW.  This is a discrete and defined work commitment – the event takes place less than 12 months from now.  

Louise and Cami are seeking CREW members to chair and populate the following committees:

  • Program:  Design the program, find speakers
  • Logistics:  Hotel, meeting space, menu, AV
  • Sponsorship:  Raising money to support the event
  • Communications:  Internal/External communications, marketing and media relations
  • Networking: Reception, Marketplace, and other Networking activities
  • Special Events: Dine Arounds, Tours , other off site activities
  • Finance:  Track, manage, and report on the money

Please contact Louise or Cami directly if you are able to participate. It will be most helpful if you are able to provide a sentence or two about what experience you have had in any aspect of conference planning also what committee you are most interested in serving on.  But even if you've had no experience putting on a conference, if you want to serve, we need to hear from you.  The Co-Chairs will do their best to make sure we have a good mix of experience levels in each committee.

We had a very successful CREW MidAtlantic Regional Conference in 2006 in Richmond .  We will build from our experience to make the conference in 2008 a meaningful experience for organizers and participants alike.
