Lynn Carter, President of Capital One Bank shared some of her
organization’s successes and passions at the CREW DC February
luncheon. She spoke of her rise up the corporate ladder from a
teller position, to the migration of 3.5 million clients when
Capital One purchased the assets of Chevy Chase Bank. Success,
according to Lynn, is a combination of teamwork, amazing people,
and building sound business relationships.
Capital One is also passionate about the community. They’ve
put bank branches inside schools, run by students, which goes
a long way toward teaching financial literacy. Capital One is
supporting communities by providing community development financing,
and has funded 3 local multifamily projects locally –Matthews
Memorial Terrace in DC’s Ward 8, The Jordan in Arlington,
and the Montgomery Housing Project in Takoma Park, Maryland.
Lynn’s firm belief is that if an organization is successful,
personal success will follow. Team members must be working to
accomplish common goals, and must have trust, mutual respect and
support for each other. This shared purpose puts the team ahead
of individuals.
