October Program: The Mayoral Perspective, Mayor Adrian M. Fenty

“Selling the Nation's Capitol”

The CREW DC Chapter was honored to have Mr. Adrian M. Fenty, Mayor of the District of Columbia, speak to approximately 175 attendees at the Capital Hilton Hotel. Mayor Fenty spoke of many accomplishments his office has achieved over the past 10 months of his term. One particular highlight Mayor Fenty spoke of was the District's fiscal health and its recent bond rating upgrade of which it is now the highest in the District's history.

“New Frontier of Leadership”, “Making Neighborhoods Come to Life” and “Hiring the Best and the Brightest” were key phrases that Mayor Fenty used to explain his plan to make the District of Columbia a world class city. Mayor Fenty spent the majority of his time speaking of the importance of revamping the existing school system. He was particularly proud of the grass roots support all of the schools received from the District's private sector. In addition, Mayor Fenty vowed to assist real estate developers with navigating the District's many departments during the development process.
